Okonomi or okonomiyaki sauce is a typical Japanese topping for Japanese pancakes known as Okonomiyaki,
soy sauce made with all vegan ingredients such as date juice, carrots, garlic, shiittake mushrooms, apples, grain vinegar,
Japanese spices and other spicy ingredients.
Okonomi sauce is a descendant of Worcestershire sauce, but is much sweeter and less salty than its British predecessor
and is made without high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or nasty preservatives.



Okonomiyaki is a Japanese teppanyaki, a savory dish in the shape of a larger, thicker pancake, consisting of wheat flour dough and other ingredients (mixed or as toppings) cooked in a teppan (flat pan). Common toppings include cabbage, meat, and seafood, and toppings include okonomiyaki sauce, aonori (dried seaweed flakes), katsuobushi (bonito flakes), Japanese mayonnaise, and pickled ginger.
Okonomiyaki is mainly associated with two distinct variants from Kansai and Hiroshima, but is widely available throughout the country, with toppings and batters varying by region. The name is derived from the word okonomi, which means "how you like it" or "what you like", and yaki, which means "grilled". Okonomiyaki sauce is essential for preparing okonomiyaki and takoyaki, see photos. But it is also used to flavor dishes, mainly Japanese hamburgers, steaks and various types of meat, stir-fried vegetables, and flavoring yakisoba and other noodle and rice dishes.
